Davide Mocerino is a highly skilled and accomplished researcher with a wealth of experience in material science and engineering. He has a proven track record of multidisciplinary expertise in various fields such as material characterization, production methods, and structural analysis, with a deep focus on Finite Element Analysis (FEA). He received a solid foundation in composite materials and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) during his undergraduate studies in aerospace engineering at the University of Naples Federico II. He used Neural Network techniques to predict damage in aircraft components.

His master's in aerospace engineering, which he also received from the Federico II University of Naples, expanded his understanding of structural design, fabrication, and characterization. The creation of a testing procedure for biaxial carbon structures was the main goal of his Master's thesis. Throughout this time, he also completed an internship at Atitech S.p.a. where he focused on monitoring and preventing damage to composite materials. This provided him with invaluable practical knowledge in aviation maintenance.

After completing his Master's degree, he worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Naples Federico II, where he developed a recycling process for gypsum and investigated the production of environmentally friendly composite materials by combining gypsum with hemp fibers. This work led to his Ph.D. research in the same university, where he focused on the use of natural fibers and polymers to create novel green composite materials. During his Ph.D., he conducted 6 months of research at Imdea Materials Institute in Spain, where he specialized in coding and developing simulations for Artificial Intelligence applications in production processes.

During the last year, Davide was a Research Associate in the Structural Composite Group at IMDEA Materials Institute Spain. He is in charge of overseeing Ph.D. students, assisting them in honing their research abilities for the future, and participating in many national and international projects.
