Funciona y funcionó así en todo el mundo.  El ferrocarril sobre todo llevó el progreso a todas las regiones a las que llegó.  Y, por el contrario, regiones que antaño recibían al ferrocarril y la línea en cuestión fue clausurada, volvió a la situación de atraso que tenía antes de la llegada del camino de hierro.  Pasó en Estados Unidos con el trazado del ferrocarril al Far West.  El desarrollo de todo el oeste norteamericano no hubiera sido posible sin el ferrocarril.

+El grave problema que tenemos en Catalunya es la falta de poder de decisión sobre gran cantidad de temas, regulados por la constitución y que otorga las competencias sobre infraestructuras, entre muchos otros aspectos, al gobierno de Espanya.  Entonces esta tierra de emprendedores y pioneros se ve permanentemente castrada, acotada, maniatada y amordazada por los gobiernos de Espanya, tengan el color político que tengan.  Desde 1714, en que Catalunya perdió su soberanía política y económica, todas las decisiones de inversión en infraestructuras y consiguientemente de posibilidades de desarrollo, son tomadas por Madrid.  Espanya tiene la particularidad de que, en el caso de inversión en infraestructura, las decisiones se toman en clave política y no por la búsqueda de la prosperidad o por una razón de mercado.  Muchos prefieren una España pobre, más que una España próspera, si la prosperidad tiene que entrar por los puertos catalanes. La lógica económica llevaría a invertir donde la inversión generara más rendimiento; en cambio, la lógica del poder lleva al Estado a marginar, por ejemplo, el eje mediterráneo, precisamente por su gran potencial.
