Strong researcher in the field of safety of marine operations and design for safety for more than 25 years, receiving a number of international awards for his work.</span></p><p><span>He is currently the Research Director of the Maritime Transport Unit at NAOME and deputy Director at the &nbsp;Safety Research Centre, sponsored by RCCL and DNVGL. Co-inventor for a pending patent and PI and Co-I in EU and UK funded research and KE projects. KE project coordinator in UK and for EU-funded training courses.</span></p><p><span>Very committed to professional institutions through work as Fellow with the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) in UK and Member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) in US and the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE). Maximizing the impact as a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects&rsquo; International Maritime Organisation Standing Committee and the International Intercessional correspondence group developing the new regulations for the international shipping.&nbsp;Member of the International Towing Tank Committee (ITTC) Technical Committee on Stability in Waves. Member of the Stability R&amp;D Committee associated with the International Conference on the Stability of Ships and Offshore Structures (STAB). Member of the IMarEST Alternative Fuels from Shipping Special Interest Group and SNAME&rsquo;s SD-11: Post Incident Safety Assurance Panel.</span></p><p><span>He has produced more than 150 publications in journals and international peer-reviewed conferences, he is the co-editor of the Proceedings of STAB 2015 and has 6 chapters in books.</span></p></div>]]></description>

	<title><![CDATA[Evert Lataire]]></title>
	<description><![CDATA[<p>Evert Lataire graduated in 2004 at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands (Master of Science, Maritime Technology, Ship Hydrodynamics) and obtained his PhD at Ghent University, Belgium, in 2014. He is professor and head of the Maritime Technology Division (Ghent University). His research focuses mainly on the manoeuvring behaviour of ships in shallow and confined water and is often based upon model tests carried out in the confined water towing tank of Flanders Hydraulics Research (Antwerp, Belgium). He participated since the founding in the new shallow water towing tank, currently under construction in Ostend, Belgium and is co-organiser of all editions of the International Conference on Ship Behaviour in Shallow and Confined Water (MASHCON). In recent years his division diversified and obtained knowledge of other floating devices such as PV-farms and offshore aquaculture plants. He is lecturer in charge of seven courses at Ghent University (5) and Antwerp Maritime Academy (2) focusing on both ship hydrodynamics and the construction of marine structures.</p>]]></description>

	<description><![CDATA[<p>received the Ph.D. degree from the Universitat Polit&egrave;cnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, &nbsp;Spain, in 2013, his B.Sc in electronic engineering and his Master degree in Engineering with emphasis on&nbsp;Automatic Control from the Universidad Del Valle, Cali, Colombia in 2004 and 2007, respectively. In 2009, he&nbsp;joined the Motion Control and Industrial Centre Innovation Electronics (MCIA). In 2014, He worked as a Postdoc&nbsp;researcher in UPC and Aalborg University, Denmark. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor on power&nbsp;electronics applied to renewable energy in the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez campus. His main research&nbsp;interests include&nbsp;modeling, analysis, design, and control of power electronic converters, principally for dc/ac power&nbsp;conversion, grid-connection of renewable energy sources, and Microgrid application.&nbsp;</p>]]></description>
