Vladislav Mantič is Professor of Continuum Mechanics at the School of Engineering, University of Seville, where he is currently teaching Solid Mechanics, Elasticity, Fracture Mechanics, Plasticity, Finite and Boundary Element Method. He graduated in Mathematical Engineering from the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Czech Technical University of Prague, in 1984. He received his doctorate in Technical Sciences from the Institute of Computer Science in Prague, Czech Academy of Sciences, for his work on computer implementation of Boundary Element Method in 1993. His research is currently focused on Fracture Mechanics, in particular on its applications to predict damage initiation and propagation in Composites and their joints at different scales; Interface Crack analysis and modelling; stress singularity analysis in anisotropic multimaterial corners; non-classical approaches in Fracture Mechanics as coupled criterion of Finite Fracture Mechanics, Cohesive Zone Models, Linear Elastic-Brittle Interface Model, energetic/variational approaches and Surface Elasticity models. He has published more than 90 articles in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, 8 chapters in international edited books, more than 150 communications to national and international conferences. He recently edited the book: V. Mantič (Ed.), Mathematical Methods and Models in Composites, Imperial College Press, 2014. He currently coordinates the Doctorate Program for Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Organization at the University of Seville.

The AVK, as the German professional association for fibre reinforced plastics/composites, represents the interests of producers and processors of reinforced plastics/composites on a national and a European level. The AVK was founded in 1924 and currently has over 220 member companies (in Germany and abroad) and is therefore one of the largest associations in the European composites sector.

It represents members along the entire value-added chain in the area of reinforced plastics. Its members include manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials as well as processing companies, machine-tool manufacturers, engineering firms, testing authorities and scientific

institutions. The association represents both small and medium-sized companies as well as major multinational concerns.

The AVK is integrated into a strong network of German and European partners. For example, it is one of four sponsoring associations of the GKV - the umbrella organisation of the German plastics converters industry and represented in both the executive and board.

In addition, AVK is a foundation member of the German Composites Umbrella organization “Composites Germany”. Furthermore AVK is represented on the board of the European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA).
