In 2010 he received his master's degree in Energy Efficiency, awarded by the University of Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. In 2019 he received his second master's degree in Engineering, awarded by the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Medellín – Colombia, where he has also collaborated as a researcher in several scientific projects. He received his PhD's degree in Engineering in the aforementioned university in Colombia in 2021. Over the last seven years, he has worked as a professor and researcher at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana in Ecuador, where he has conducted several electrical engineering courses and supervised some master theses. At present, he is the Director of the Department of Electrical Engineering of this university. He is a member of the research group on smart electrical grids (GIREI) and a member of the Colombian research program “Energética 2030”. He has taken part in several prestigious international conferences and events, where he has collaborated as an exhibitor and committee member. He has published more than 20 high-impact international papers indexed in Scopus and Web of Science and he has also been a reviewer of various scientific papers. He has work experience in electrical network design companies. His major research interests include fault diagnosis on electrical distribution systems, smart grids, Volt – Var control, minimizing power losses, renewable energy systems and energetic efficiency.

His research area focuses on obtaining secondary raw materials, alternative fuels and/or energy from the treatment of complex waste, both of industrial and urban origin. He has participated in 10 research projects in national, regional and university competitive calls, being principal investigator in one of them, and in 7 private research contracts with companies, among them Repsol YPF and BEFESA R&D. In terms of scientific production, he has published 35 articles in high impact international journals and 1 book chapter (19 Q1, 16 Q2, 1727 citations, h index=18). In addition, he is the main inventor of a Spanish patent validated in the European Union (Germany, Italy, France) and the United Kingdom. He has also presented 70 communications at national and international symposiums. This scientific production has supposed the recognition of 2 six-year research periods. He is a member of 2 PhD programs: Environmental Engineering, and Engineering of Materials and Sustainable Processes. He has supervised 3 doctoral theses, one of them international and with extraordinary prize and another with mention of industrial doctorate, and currently directs 5 more doctoral theses. Finally, he is a member of the evaluating entity of the Euskoiker Foundation for the evaluation of the safety reports of Basque companies affected by the legislation on serious accidents involving hazardous substances.

In the teaching area, he is associate professor of Environmental Technologies in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the School of Engineering of Bilbao (UPV/EHU). He teaches "Waste Sampling and Analysis" in the Degree in Environmental Engineering, "Waste Management" and "Treatment of Industrial Waste and Contaminated Soil" in the Master Degree in Environmental Management and Engineering, and "Recycling of Materials" in the Master Degree in Advanced Materials Engineering. In the teaching evaluation program of the UPV/EHU DOCENTIAZ he has obtained a rating of 94.92/100 and 86.32/100 in the two calls evaluated.

Actualmente Investigadora en el equipo de trabajo del Ámbito Tecnológico de Composites sostenibles 4.0 de Gaiker. Cuenta con 21 años de experiencia en el desarrollo de Proyectos de I+D. Experta en el desarrollo y la caracterización de plásticos reforzados, resinas naturales, es responsable de la tecnología de filament winding, dominando también las tecnologías de Pultrusión, Infusión, RTM, fabricación de SMC/BMC, compresión y tecnologías de unión adhesiva y química entre materiales de diferente naturaleza. Así mismo es experta en la caracterización microscópica (microscopía óptica y SEM) de materiales plásticos y composites. Coautora en 2 patentes europeas. Cuenta con al menos 10 contribuciones a revistas científicas y congresos internacionales y es coautora de 3 patentes europeas en los últimos 5 años, gracias a sus trabajos en diferentes proyectos nacionales e internacionales de I+D+i.
